Jessica Vance- Early Moves in the Early Years

Authentic documentation and meaningful learning walls don’t begin with displays—they begin with the small, intentional moves educators make each day. The ways we listen, notice, document, and respond shape what becomes visible in the learning environment. In this webinar, Jessica Vance explores the early moves that support authentic documentation practices and the development of learning walls that reflect children’s thinking over time. Participants will reflect on everyday classroom moments and consider how thoughtful shifts in practice can make learning more visible, shared, and owned by children and walk away with resources and tools to put into action right away.

The Nest Child and Family Learning Centre, Sorell

The Nest is a welcoming space where families and young children come together to play, learn, and connect, supported by community partnerships and services that help families thrive. At the Nest, Kim Overgaauw will welcome attendees, share some of the initiatives and supports that are part of The Nest experience, and take us on a tour of the space. This is a great opportunity to see how environments and relationships support children’s engagement and wellbeing in a community-centred setting.

Orenda Circle, Midway Point

At Orenda Circle, Hannah Colbourn will lead a presentation exploring how we intentionally support children who may be less inclined to engage in traditional literacy experiences. This session will unpack the intentional literacy program developed at Orenda, showing how we balance play-based learning with planned, structured teaching experiences to embed literacy through children’s interests, strengths, and everyday play, particularly for children who are more motivated by physical play, sensory engagement, or construction-based learning.
